Dr. John J. Kim

Dr. John J. Kim is the founder of Clearview Eye Surgery, PC. He was the former Director of Residency in charge of training all new eye surgeons at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Kim was also the Director of Refractive Surgery and Director of Cornea. He has trained many Ophthalmologists. Currently, many of Dr. Kim’s students are teachers themselves at medical schools and hospitals through out the country.

Dr. Kim is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who was trained in Cornea and Refractive surgery from the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has authored numerous research papers and chapter of popular surgical text book.

He is a frequent lecturer to his colleagues and to residents. As one of the most prolific surgeon in ophthalmology, he is trusted by many of his colleagues who routinely refer their most difficult surgical cases to him. Dr. Kim is one of the first surgeons in the state of New York to have performed artificial cornea transplant in 2004. He has pioneered a new surgical technique to correct high astigmatism, which has been a condition that has been difficult to correct. His insight and opinions are well respected by his colleagues. He has served on the Medical Board of Directors at the New York Eye Bank. There are few surgeons in the country that have performed the volume of surgery as Dr. Kim has done.

Dr. Kim has equipped the Clearview Eye Surgery with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic equipment to provide the best medical and surgical care to his patients. His philosophy of treating all patients as if they were members of his immediate family is imparted into all of his staff members. Each patient will be treated with utmost respect and care at Clearview Eye Surgery. We are now expending into other boroughs to bring excellent ophthalmic care to rest of New York City and to northern New Jersey.

Dr. Kim is active in reaching out to the community. He is a member of the Lion’s Club. He enjoys donating his time on medical missions. He has made several trips to the Rio de Negro portion of the Amazon in Brazil. He is an avid runner, hiker, biker (both bicycle and motorcycle), and snowboarder. He has two children who are both in college at this time.
